Definitions 1 of 2

These definitions are based on the scripture: Galatians 5. This chapter is based on the Freedom we promised to us in our walk with Jesus Christ. We can make living day to day so much easier if we follow what the definitions are in regards to the Fruits of the Spirit. Jesus sent a helper to us to comfort us, guide us and help us to make choices.

He said in John 15:26 ” I will send you the helper from the Father.” The Helper is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Truth that comes upon us after accepting Jesus into our lives. The Holy Spirit reminds us about what Jesus has said, how we need to live and reminds us of Christs character! Here is a description of the Fruits of the Spirit!

Page 1 & 2 as follows.

Love. The definition of Love is noted in the dictionary as an intense feeling, and a showing of deep affection. Having a great interest and having pleasure in something.

Joy. To me joy has always been an expression. I know that showing happiness can spread love. I show joy when I need to express myself and happily I serve others. Joy by definition is a feeling. A similar word that is used in the bible frequently is “rejoice” and this is associated with joy. Joy is an emotion that is expressed by well being when having success and feeling content or complete in desire.

Christ set His affection upon us when He died for us. God sent His Son that we can feel His presence and when we receive the Holy Spirit we have the reminder that these characteristics are available to us. The gift of the Spirit is ignited to do what is right and ask God to help you live in His Word and show love!

Psalm 33:1 Sing for Joy in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise is becoming to the upright.

Peace. This definition is freedom from disturbance. So, disturbance in the Spirit realm is really temporary and people can see in the natural realm that there are disturbances everywhere. But we are not to let our disruptions/ disturbances/ and distractions get the best of us. One of the definitions I saw when looking up this word was noted as this. It says “a state or period in which there is no war” or a time when war has ended. The word calm is also used. Jesus wants to calm the storms of our lives!

Patience. Now this word is a great word to study. I struggle with patience. The definition is: the capacity to accept or tolerate delay. Can you suffer without getting frustrated or impatient? It is difficult. One of my favorite verses in the bible is this one!

Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Kindness. By definition is showing support. By dedicating time to showing up for someone and by acting in a gracious way you are displaying a generous quality and being considerate in action.

You are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love.

Nehemiah 9:17
